Kalyan Chatterjee is Distinguished Professor of Economics and Management Science at the Pennsylvania State University, where he has been since obtaining his doctorate from Harvard Business School in 1979. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society and his work is included in the third edition of "Who's Who in Economics 1986-1995" on the basis of number of citations. He has been an American Philosophical Society Sabbatical Fellow as well as an Overseas Fellow at Churchill College, Cambridge and an Overseas Visiting Scholar at St. John's College, Cambridge. His research was initially in double auctions and bargaining with incomplete information, an area in which he still maintains an interest. He has also investigated coalition formation and other topics in multilateral bargaining, bargaining and search, research and innovation models and auctions and procurement. He is currently working on individual choice in various settings, on networks and diffusion of knowledge and on pre-electoral negotiations in parliamentary democracies.
